International Assembly cancelled due to Coronavirus

The annual International Assembly of the Federation The Most Beautiful Villages of the World is cancelled because of to this risk

The Federation of the Most Beautiful Villages of the World (Les Plus Beaux Villages de la Terre) has just announced the cancellation of its annual International Assembly, planned for May this year in Italy. This decision has been made due to the spread of Coronavirus. After having evaluation all the options, the event that would gather all the different Associations of beautiful villages will be cancelled.

“Coronavirus has entered Europe, and Italy is the most affected European country, with 1.700 positive cases and 34 deaths”, it is been said from the Federation.

This organization reminded that, due to this virus, important events have been also cancelled, such Moto GP in Thailand, Fashion Week in Milan, and also important tourist places has been closed such as Louvre Museum or Milano Cathedral.

This decision has been taken by the current president of the Federation, Spanish Francisco Mestre, and by the president of the Italian Association, Fiorello Primi

Federation integrates different associations in several countries such as Spain, France, Italy, Japan and Wallonia, and Russia, Saxony (Germany), Lebanon or Switzerland as observers. All those (and the best villages of each country) have been carefully chosen to widely share their beauty, whether natural, artistic, cultural or culinary.

The Federation gathers almost 800 villages with specific characteristics and history, all certified for their uniqueness and excellence. This federation represents all these values, ensuring the protection and enhancement of this immense heritage.
